In the Blog “To Ponzi or Not” we set out the background of what a Ponzi is.
It really is amazing how many Ponzi-like schemes there are out there, including ones run by Governments.
What do I mean? OK, what is happening to Public Service Pension Funds – let’s start here. Cash out, future liabilities, whoops – we are going to run short on the Pensions payouts. Now does that have some ring of Ponzi-truth. BA and the Royal Mail are in the same boat. What about Private Industry? – well, to save cash, companies commonly underfund their Pension Fund account while requiring staff to put their determined measure in. Now, when the Fund runs dry and can’t pay-out, the Company does not suffer, rather it is the staff who do.
OK,that’s enough of that for background.
Now, what happens online is that an “entrepreneur” or recognised name (probably because they got your email address and have been sending you stuff) sends you a message about their “greatest income opportunity”. Join for free! Sounds like a real opportunity….
Ok, you join up and find you have only got a bit of the tantalizing scheme. Now you need to commit cash to get more to make it “work better”. Wow, so out go the scheckles and you start emailing. Notice something odd – there are literally hundreds of others doing just like you! What’s more, virtually all of them are doing as well as you – zip, nada..
So, you put that one aside and try something similar like Traffic Boards – shock, horror, they are on the same “offer” treadmill as you are – not necessarily the same deal, just similar.
Let’s be brutally honest here. The only cats getting fat are the ones with your cash in their bowl.
Is it a Ponzi scheme? – probably not. Is it fraud? – not sure. Is it a scam? – Well, probably, if scams are defined as taking money for services that have little prospect of success.
So, don’t get depressed – I’ve been depressed enough for both of us….
Just what is the answer? This author believes the answer lays in marketing real goods, services, and values.
Build a blog or website (have your friend do it if you can’t), decide on a niche market (http://tightsuk.com is a good example), and build from there. No, not get rich quick, just a progressive path to success.
Check out the author’s direct marketing niche market sites:
US and Pacific Market – http://thekitchendestination.com
UK and EU Market – http://www.stargate.co.nz/tkd-uk/ for some further ideas.
Just like these sites, you can build and develop as you go along. Next Blog we will look at how to build, develop, and promote.
